One Thing She Knew edition by Toni Meyer Literature Fiction eBooks
Told in a voice of lyrical prose, "One Thing She Knew" is a story for this era - cougars, dysfunctional families, gifted athletes' dreams of becoming pro players... Situations that happen in real life were all bundled in a microcosm creating drama and bittersweet situations that make you think twice, even philosophize enough to ask, "has our society become this way?"Dr. Carrie Hemmingway is well on her way of ending a 10-year marriage with her philandering husband, Dr. Aaron Hemmingway, when her stepson Thornton brought his roommate and basketball teammate Orlando Scott home for the Christmas holidays.
Against all odds and the taboo of a relationship between an older woman and a young man, they fell in love. But, between Carrie's impending divorce and Orlando's double life as a star athlete by day and male escort by night, their love and the bond they shared were tested beyond their limits.
Author Toni Meyer made all characters come alive. From the protagonists to all the supporting characters, no matter how small - all of them were beautifully fleshed out that they become real to the readers. You can feel Orlando's anguish and love for Carrie; Thornton's conflicted loyalties between his stepmother, his best friend/roommate and his father; Dr. Aaron Hemmingway's cavalier attitude towards his wife and kids...
I like this story so much that I'll go out on a limb that this is good enough to become a movie. So, why am I giving it only 4 stars? It's because of the grammatical errors. Yes, the errors are few and far between, but when the story is as engaging as this one, these tiny errors were magnified 10x and thus cutting the beautiful flow of the storytelling.

One Thing She Knew edition by Toni Meyer Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed this story and believed the characters. However, the grammatical errors and poor word choices left a bad taste in my mouth. This book needs a good editor who knows how to use lie/lay/laid/lain, and who can correctly use pronouns such as he/him, I/me, and she/her. Other examples of poor usage
USED/MEANT
ease dropping/eaves
sick on them/sic on
for the worse/worst
incubate/intubate
their serious/they're serious
one fail swoop/one fell swoop
slue of orders/slew
We were threw/through
He had saw her/seen
would have ran/run
breaks/brakes
everyone one/every one
teta-tae/tête-à-tête
spurn resentment/spawn
If these don't bother you, then you can enjoy the book. They do bother me but I only knocked off one star. I thought the story was good enough for four stars in spite of the problems. They are all "fixable" and the book would be greatly improved by good editing.
Stumbled upon this as a free read, and really enjoyed reading and could not put it down! This is a unique love/ lust story that's keeps you wanting more. From struggling of expectations, both characters unexpectedly find each other. This book leaves you rooting for their love to conquer all and defeat all odds. Definitely will read again!
At first I was upset that the story was so long but thank God it was. All the twists and turns in the book...some I saw coming. Some got crying, frustrated, angry and wishful....so many emotions. A few times I got mad with the writer and many characters in the story....will read this book again. Much more slower next time......
One Thing She Knew is a look at how love can "just happen." It doesn't always come in a neat and comfortable package, but can catch us so off guard, totally changing a course of what we think we know about ourselves. It's a book that will make you shake your head...make you cheer...makes you read on to an end of a thrilling ride. There were times in the book in which I was reading into the early morning hours, dying to find out how the main character was going to respond to the climax of the story. The familial parts of the novel are my favorite - characters who could represent our own family members, definitely relatable! One Thing She Knew is an easy read that you will most definitely enjoy!
This book was SOOO GOOOD! I've never really thought that the younger man - older woman thing was particularly appealing -or plausible. This story was told so well, not only could I see how it happened, but I was cheering for Carrie and Orlando to get together. This was an emotional read and I sure hope this author writes a sequel. The only reason I couldn't give this book the 5 stars it deserved is because the editing was kinda dicey - especially towards the end of the book. The missing or mis-used words slightly hampered my reading groove. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything by this author.
The one thing I know is that Toni Meyer is talented and can effortlessly create a pageturner. I was hooked from the start of this fast-paced, witty, talk-back-to-the-pages novel that left me asking why do we settle for comfort when real love is so much better?
Carrie Hemingway has a life that is sure to make other women fiend for a walk in her Louboutins she's a successful doctor, mother to two charismatic children, and the wife/partner of one of the town's most well-heeded and noted surgeons. But every glistening diamond isn't from Tiffany's. Beneath the facade, Meyer's peels back layers of deceit, pain, arrogance, and neglect. Carrie's reawakening is facilitated by a surprise guest that causes her to question the safety she's enjoyed--or endured--for years.
Take the ride with these characters and enjoy Meyer's fresh voice! I pray OTSK has a sequel in the making.
