I love Scott's stuff.. Im never let down, EVER!!I absolutely love Scott's books. He is one of my auto 1 click authors. I never even read the synopsis bc I know I am going to love whatever he has written. He is my go to author when Iam in a book funk. I can re-read one of his books and get over any funk Iam in. Ive not read anything by him I havent loved.
And Rough is no different. I loved it from start to finish. I loved that there was a bit of what I call romantic comedy in this one. It was a little different than his other books. I found myself chuckeling throughout the book.
Pee Bee -- Oh my.... 6'8 of tattooed muscle? Yes please. I loved that he didnt take life to seriously. Loyal to a fault but learned to find the good in most situations. Unless you ruin his bike...then he isnt finding humor. What do I mean?? You have to read the book.
Teagan -- Love her name and loved her character. One thing I love about Scott's books is that he never has weak leading ladies. Teagan holds her own. She is snarky and sassy and full of mystery. I loved that she didnt just throw all her business out there.
Again, Scott's MC life has carried over. One of the reasons I love his MC books is bc they are real. As someone who has lived it, I appreciate that the books are not over the top, they are real and believable. Even if some situations seem to far fetched, his expertise comes thru. His books are raw and gritty and I love love love them.
Although Rough can be read as a stand alone, I recommend you read book 1 - Hard - before hand. Just bc it lays out the basics of this MC. Besides, who can say no to a bad boy biker???

To say I devoured this book would be an understatement. I fell hard for both PeeBee and Tegan and their unexpected love story. Rough is what Scott Hildreth does best he gives us tough as nails characters with flawed hearts of gold. I could not put this one down. From their very first 'meeting', you just knew these two would find a way to not only continue to break each other's balls but to somehow crawl inside each other's souls and fill it like no one else could.
It's a book that doesn't waste time with extraneous nonsense. Yes there are moments with Crip and the rest of the club and a great secondary character in Tegan's bestie Marcus but this is PeeBee and Tegan's story. A tale about family and finding your way to another's heart because the time is simply right. With the guidance of the ornery, foul-mouthed but extraordinary man that is Pop and believe me, the man stole the show more than once, our couple was destined to make it, whether or not they even wanted to. Pop is a force to be reckoned with and his words of wisdom delivered during his time with his crispy bacon or when beating Tegan at Scrabble, were certainly something to ponder. The man that PeeBee becomes when he is with Tegan is clearly a reflection of his father's love and the devotion his parents had for each other for 50 years.
There are times that are bittersweet in Rough but there is that trademark Hildreth wit and gripping passion that make this book complete. It's like coming home for me in a way. I feel like I did when I first discovered this author in Finding Parker and I'm so very glad I could get lost in his words once again. Oh and I may have even learned a few new ones during the infamous Scrabble games...an unexpected bonus!
I am thrilled to give this book a huge 5 stars!!

I was enraptured when I heard Scott read the first four chapters. I was counting down the days until I could get my hands on this book. I knew it was going to be different. I knew it would hold a place in my heart. I just didn't know how big of a piece or exactly why.
This book/story brought out all kinds of emotions. I was laughing one minute, smiling the next and crying after that. Only to circle back to laughter. From car doors destroying bikes, to swedish meatballs and scrabble. To 50th wedding anniversary's and a funeral.
Bradley Sr grabbed onto a piece of my heart and didn't give it back. His love for his son and knowledge of life and love was so genuine and loyal. Add in his grumpy facade, you just can't help but love him.
Brad (Pee Bee) grows from a lady's man who you couldn't pay to stick around, to a man so in love and not ashamed to show it. From the moment he kissed Teagan he knew it was different, she was different. He held on tight and loved her as much as his father loved his mother.
Teagan is a bright, caring, blunt in your face woman I wish I could meet. The love she has for Bradley and Brad shows her huge heart. She made promises and kept them with her whole heart. ..... and it all started with scrabble, the foundation for any worth while solid whole hearted relationship.

If you haven't read a Scott Hildreth book you absolutely need to. The way he draws you in as if you're living it, is only the half of it. This is an amazing author who will change your life one word at a time!!
